Belkin unveils its WeMo Smart LED bulbs, aims to take on the Philips Hue

Belkin has expanded their WeMo line-up, unveiling the new WeMo Smart LED Bulbs at CES 2014. Packing 60 watts, the bulbs are equivalent with 800 lumens brightness that is said to last anywhere up to 23 years and can be controlling using either an iPhone or Android device.

Undercutting the Philips Hue bulb, which is priced at $60 (£36), the Belkin WeMo Smart LED Bulb will be available priced at $39 (£24), but will also be available in an LED Lighting Starter Set (priced at $130/ £70) which includes with another bulb and a WeMo Link that allows the user to control up to 50 bulbs.

Alongside the bulbs, Belkin also announced a DIY WeMo Maker Kit, that will you to control any device using a DC switch such as a sprinker system, garage door, or antenna.

The Belkin WeMo Smart LED Bulbs and the DIY WeMo Maker Kit will be available for purchase later this year.
