For a while now a lot of different iDevices have had access to 3G capabilities starting with the iPhone 3G, then to the iPhone 3GS, than the iPhone 4 and iPad and then finally the iPad 2, but their has been one device that has been left out from the mobile networking race for a long time, the iPod Touch.

But according to Dutch blog AppleSpot, Apple are soon to release a 3G capable iPod Touch, the claim that the new iPod Touch will be a lot like the current iPad you will still have your music and videos etc. But you will get access to the mobile internet to, which would be kinda cool but I’m not sure Apple will do this.

The main reason i don;t think Apple would release a 3G iPod Touch is the simple fact it would cut sales of the iPhone, the main reason a lot of people buy an iPhone is because it is all there Apple devices in one small and compact device, if the iPod Touch could do everything the iPhone can do then their would be no point in actually purchasing an iPhone.

Another reason is if the current rumors are true, Apple are releasing a iPhone 4S and 5 this year and next of which the 4S will be a downgraded model of the 5, which means Apple will need to focus on the marketing f these two products and will not have time for another release.

“It will work just like the iPad; you get a 3G enabled simcard from your provider and put that in you iPod Touch”

“Apple’s choice of bringing 3G to the iPod Touch isn’t all that weird, if it’s true of course. Question remains how the providers will react to this, since the use of for example Skype will skyrocket.”
