Bill Gates Foundation To Reinvent The Toilet

This week news hit the web that the founder of Microsoft Bill Gates will be putting a massive £26 million pounds into reinventing the toilet, you may be thinking why he might be doing this is he just bored? Not really because he isn’t talking about the toilet’s you and I know, he wants to produce toilets for those people in third world country’s who find it extremely difficult to put the toilet’s we have in their countries.
According to the video above a massive 2.6 Billion people all over the world use unsafe toilets or even worse don’t use one at all, this can lead to disease which will lead to more premature deaths in the effected countries
The Reinventing the Toilet Challenge has funded 8 different universities world-wide to try to create a new toilet to tackle this problem, it will have to be able to work without any water, electricity or sewers as it is impossible to link in some of the effected countries, the foundation also hopes to make the toilets more eco-friendly by enabling them to turn human waste into energy.
I think it is great that the people with money in this world are finally starting to do something useful with this, I have thought for years why are they doing nothing and it seems Bill Gates has started to, hopefully some other people might jump on the band wagon and we can finally make this world a better place to live in, not just for us but for everybody.
What do you think about the gates’ Foundation’s Reinventing the Toilet Challenge? Do you think their idea is possible? Is it even useful?
