Interview With The Steve Wozniak

24/07/2011 | | 11 Comments

Apple has played a massive part in the evolution of technology of the years, and one of the people responsable for this is Apple’s Co-Founder Steve Wozniak, from which two of his biggest creations were the Apple I and II back in the 1970′s.

Wozniak has been given several nicknames over the years ranging from “The Woz”, “Wonderful Wizard Of Woz” and “iWoz” but probably the best one I have found is “Other Steve”, the better known Steve being the brilliant Steve Jobs.

Take a look at an interview with The Woz himself:

Great interview! Is this a TechNutty original? If not, what is the source?

Erm unfortunately this isn’t the source, I wish I could interview him but it would probably never happen, and sorry but im not sure of the exact source as I found it on YouTube and shared it through my channel.

Thanks for the reply. So you mean you found it on YouTube and reuploaded it to your own channel? Do you remember the original URL? I’d like to cite the source in my own blog post.

Yh pretty much, I had to though because the one I found was really bad quality so I unscaled the video, erm, i’m not sure if this link is the original but I found one that looks like it might be I am really not sure though:

Woz and Apple were important, but I’m tried of hearing about them. They’ve both bought into the revisionist myth that they, and they alone, invented the personal computer. That is insult to pioneers like Steve Leininger, Chuck Peddle, Lee Felsenstein, and Bob Yannes. I think it’s time we left Woz to dry off a bit and give others the credit they’re due.

If you don’t recognize those other names, time to do some homework and open your eyes.

No you are completly right that Apple did not invent the PC, they stole their GUI from xerox, but they basically gave it to them, so not really stealing, I do know Steve Leininger, he waas the guy who bulit the TRS right, very old computer but I do give people like Steve Wozniak there due, becauase afterall he did create a great computer with the Apple II which will be remember for generations, but so will the others.

I’m not talking about the GUI/Xerox issue.

Apple revisionists like to perpetuate the myth that the Apple II launched the personal computer revolution of the late 70s, when nothing could be further from the truth. Even Woz, in the title of his book, claims that “[he] invented the Personal Computer.”

And, no, you’re wrong: history may forget the TRS-80, Commodore PET, SOL-20, etc., because popular culture spends too much time focused on Apple.

So, again, my point: Woz and Apple already have had their due. Let’s hang Woz up to dry for a while and give others a spotlight.

(Woz couldn’t even get the Apple I working correctly without Chuck Peddle’s help.)

I do realise what you mean, how Apple has beoome to big within their industry, but I still think they make some great products with brilliant designs, and I will take a look at what I find on Clive Sinclair and Christopher Curry and I will make some posts like this one, probably better than this.
