Nintendo Under Pressure To Create Games For The iOS Platform

Probably since I first got my iPhone I have hoped and dreamed for Nintendo to release one of their big games Apple’s devices, but the company has always said their games will only ever be available on it’s own hardware, but according to Bloomberg, Nintendo investors are putting pressure on the company to release a new game for the iOS devices:
The rift highlights the dilemma President Satoru Iwata faces as consumers shun Nintendo devices to play games on iPhones, iPads and Facebook Inc.’s website. The flop of the 3DS debut prompted the company to cut prices 40 percent in Japan and 32 percent in the U.S., the first time the games developer has resorted to such a move within six months of a product’s debut.
Iwata, who’s said Nintendo will only make titles for its own products as long as he’s in charge, should scrap that strategy to avoid further alienating investors who’ve driven the stock to six-year lows, fund manager Masamitsu Ohki said.
More recently it was announced that a Pokemon themed game for the iPhone will be released onto the iPhone, shortly after this Nintendo’s stock price saw a boost, but this became short-lived as soon as Nintendo denied having any involvement with the release, which was a shame.
The CEO, Ohki has always believed that “smartphones are the new battlefield for the gaming industry,” in which he will only take part in, if Nintendo release their own phone. I understand the reasons why Nintendo would not want to join the developer world, but with their recent downfall with the 3DS I would have thought they might consider it.
What do you think? Should Nintendo develop games? What do you think a Nintendo phone would do/ look like?
