Mobile operator Three to offer all customers unlimited data plans.
27/09/2011 | Robert Wright
Mobile operator Three has announced that they are to offer all new and current customers unlimited All-You-Can-Eat (AYCE) data plans for an extra £3 per month as of October 7th.
The move comes as statistics from Three unsurprising show that, with the rapid growth of smartphones, the amount of data being used by customers is rapidly increasing; for example the average data usage from the iPhone 4 in February was 488MB, by August this had almost tripled to 1.2gGB. Three first offered all-you-can-eat data in December 201o with the launch of The One Plan contract, and this was extended to Pay-As-You-Go customers via a £15 bundle in March 2011. They express the reason they are now extending this offer to all customers is that they want to eliminate that now all too common feeling of “data fear”
Three state that their customers data usage goes up significantly over the life of their contracts and that “All-you-can-eat data means that they don’t have to worry, they can have that peace of mind for the long-term on a contract of their choice.” As many of us are now become used to accessing the internet on the go, for using social networking sites, for watching videos and for downloading apps, as well as much more besides, this move by Three makes perfect sense and hopefully will become a precedent that all the other mobile operators will follow.
