UK Judge Deems Samsung’s Galaxy Tab Too Uncool To Infringe Upon Apple’s Patents

The UK Judge Colin Biriss today deemed that Samsung’s Galaxy Tab does not infringe upon the design of Apple’s iPad as it does not “have the same understated and extreme simplicity which is possessed by the Apple design,” concluding with the statement that ”they are not as cool.”
However the court did find major similarities in the design between the two, stating that the front of the two designs was extremely similar but the backs and width of the two where completely different leading to the courts overall decision.
According to Bloomberg Samsung offered up this statement after their win: ”should Apple continue to make excessive legal claims in other countries based on such generic designs, innovation in the industry could be harmed and consumer choice unduly limited.”
Hopefully that’s the end of it and Samsung can carry on making its uncool products, but we will just have to wait and see on that one.
