ITV has just announced its plans to launch a version of ITV Player that will grant users access to more than 1,000 hours of archiveTV and film content, as long as they pay for it that is.

The new player will roll out this autumn, but it will only be available initially on PCs and will allow customers to rent single episodes or complete box sets and films from the player at a price.

Such price has not been revealed yet, but the Chief Executive, Adam Crozier said there will be no subscription service and any content that is rented would be free of any adverts, which is always good.

Don’t worry however as the normal ITV Player will stay free to watch the 7-day catch-up service.
