Olympus Unveils SH-50 and SZ-15 Compact Cameras

Olympus have today pulled the curtain that was covering their latest zoom compacts, the flagship of which they clam to be the world’s first camera of its kind to include a five-axis image stabilisation, the SH-50 will also include a 24x optical zoom lens and the same image stabilisation technology used in the Olympus OM-D.

The lens can run from 25-600mm and includes a maximum aperture of f/3.0, there;s also a mode dial on the top.

Inside the camera there’s a 16 megapixel CMOS sensor, coupled with the TurePic IV image processing engine, all of which can be controlled with a number of shooting modes, and can be seen via the 3 inch 460k dot display on the back which also happens to be a touch screen.

The Olympus Sh-50 will be available to buy from mid March 2013 for £249.99.

However if you prefer a cheaper option, Olympus also unveiled the Olympus SSZZ-15 that will give you the same 24x optical zoom with 25-600mm zoom range and f/3.0 but you won;t get the image stabilisation included in the SH-50.

There’s also a 16-megapixel CCD sensor instead of the CMOS one.

The Olympus SZ-15 will however be available for only £179.99 from mid-March 2013.
