Finally, iOS 6.1 is now available to the public allowing users to access the new features developers have had for a couple of months now, features that include further LTE support (bringing 36 additional iPhone carriers and 23 additional iPad carriers around the world), and even the ability to purchase movie tickets over Siri as well as download individual songs via iTunes match.
“iOS 6.1 brings LTE support to more markets around the world, so even more users can enjoy ultrafast Safari browsing, FaceTime video calls, iCloud services, and iTunes and App Store downloads,” according to Apple SVP of Worldwide Marketing Phillip Schiller.
iOS 6.1 will be available for download, either over-the-air or via your computer, and can be installed on the iPhone 5, iPhone 4S, iPhone 3GS, the fourth and five generation of the iPad, iPad Mini, iPad 2 and the fourth and five generation of the iPod Touch.
Schiller continued to comment with the following statement about iOS 6. “iOS 6 is the world’s most advanced mobile operating system, and with nearly 300 million iPhone, iPad and iPod touch devices on iOS 6 in just five months, it may be the most popular new version of an OS in history.”
