iOS 6.1 Lockscreen Venerability Found, Apple Working On A Fix
14/02/2013 | Nicholas Griffin
There seems to be a few things wrong with the new iOS 6.1 operating system, first iPhone 4S users found battery and performance issues and now users have found a lockscreen vulnerability within the mobile OS, that will allow anyone to bypass a password lock and access that iPhone’s personal information.
Jailbreaknation were first to reveal the hack, noting that you simply lock the device, slide to unlock, make an emergency call, hang up, and then quickly hold the sleep button, and then you will be able to access that users contact list.
Well it’s a little harder than that, they made a video to explain it, click this link to watch it.
Obviously this is nothing good for Apple, and even though you can’t actually access anything but the contacts list, personal information is something that should be treated seriously, and it seems Apple might be doing just that, releasing a statement to All Things D saying, ”Apple takes user security very seriously. We are aware of this issue, and will deliver a fix in a future software update.”
There’s no word on when this update might be released yet, but we will let you know when it does.
