Google has reportedly paid Adblock Plus to whitelist its ads

Adblock Plus has been a great annoyance to various advertising agencies around the world, being the most downloaded browser extension on Chrome and Firebox, it basically allows users to block advertisements from showing on any and all websites.

However maybe not all, as reports are now coming in that Google and other unnamed companies have paid, or are still paying Eveo (the company behind Adblock) to add their pop ups, banners and display ads to their whitelist, basically stopping users from using the service to block their ads.

The news broke on the German news site Horizont, however at the moment this is all just speculation, with no comments from either Google or Eyeo, however it could be possible as the service does offer whitelisting under its Acceptable ads initiative for free to smaller sites.

We should know more soon however.
