Nokia Lumia 920 – Most Wanted WP8 Smartphone

Microsoft’s latest mobile platform, Windows Phone 8, was released not so long ago, but it has already managed to attract the attention of most smartphone manufacturers, even those that are devoted to Android. So Samsung HTC and Nokia, which is rather close to Microsoft, have announced their first WP8-based devices. They’re all rather good phones armed with high-end features, but it’s interesting that, according to WPCentral’s survey, most WP fans prefer the Nokia Lumia 920 over all other devices. The survey was conducted among 7,568 respondents, and 81.4% of them said they’re going to buy the Lumia 920. 7.76% of the rest of the respondents gave their votes to the other Lumia phone, the 820 that was announced together with...

Samsung Galaxy Note II to Be Revealed on August 29

Samsung has just shown a teaser video demonstrating a mysterious device that is most likely… the much discussed Galaxy Note II! It’s expected to be unveiled at the upcoming Samsung Unpacked event, which is planned to take place on August 29. When the Samsung Galaxy Note was first released, most geeks thought nobody would buy it – after all, it was a strange 5.3-inch device, too small for a tablet and too big for a smartphone. However, it succeeded unexpectedly and sold about 10 million units, so Samsung decided to release its successor, the Galaxy Note II (or Galaxy Note 2 as some people call it) with even better specs – this has already been officially confirmed. Unfortunately, most of these specs...

Revolutionary Sony LT29i Hayabusa Coming in June

One of Sony’s upcoming phones, the so-called LT29i Hayabusa, was first noticed in the leaked roadmap for 2012, expected to be launched this summer. Now more details about this device have become available, and they make us think it’s going to be the best of all Sony mobile phones. The processor of the upcoming LT29i Hayabusa (the name will be changed most likely… perhaps it’ll get some “Xperia” name later) is only a dual-core one clocked at 1.5 GHz. Of course, we thought Sony’s best phone is going to come with a quad-core CPU, just like some of the flagships of other companies (like the HTC One X or the LG Optimus 4X HD), but even this dual-core processor is...

Huawei to Ship 60 Million Smartphones in 2012

Huawei has started making high-end devices not so long ago, but they’ve already announced their plans to ship 60 million smartphones in 2012. Huawei Chairman Richard Yu said that many serious changes are awaiting the smartphone market in the nearest future, and only some 3-4 manufacturers will survive; he’s sure Huawei will be one of those survivors. According to Richard Yu, Apple now owns more than 70 percent of the mobile market and Samsung has more than 20 percent, while all the other manufacturers have to operate in that small, less than 10 percent space. There is a chance that things will change soon – Apple will lose some part of its market, Samsung will strengthen its positions after the...

Users Prefer 4-4.5-inch Smartphone Displays, Survey Says

Have you ever thought which the most perfect size for a smartphone screen is? Strategy Analytics have not only thought about this, but tried to find it out, too. According to their latest research, 90 percent of people surveyed (from the UK and the US) prefer smartphones with 4-4.5-inch touchscreens. “Almost 90 percent of existing smartphone owners surveyed chose a prototype smartphone with a display larger than their current device. This trend is driven by increased mobile web browsing capability, as well as engaging video and gaming experiences”, said Paul Brown, a Director in the Strategy Analytics User Experience Practice. The survey also showed that women prefer a bit smaller screens than men, but still a phone with a 4-inch display is...

Nokia Shows 4 New Pics Taken With 808 PureView

The Nokia 808 PureView is the first phone with a 41MP camera with Carl Zeiss lens in the world, so no wonder it attracted so much attention at MWC 2012 and even took the Best New Mobile Handset award there. This new cameraphone is expected to be released in May; Nokia doesn’t want people to forget about the phone before that time, so soon after its official announcement they showed some sample shots taken by it. Now Nokia shows 4 new pics taken with the camera of the 808 PureView. They were all taken in Capetown, and you can see how unbelievably bright and clear they are. Nokia also claims that those who’re not new to taking photos will like the dynamic range, the...

Samsung Galaxy S and S2 Getting Android 2.3.6

2011 seems to be a very good year for Samsung – it launched many good devices, its Galaxy S2 was recognized as the best device in the smartphone market, its Galaxy Nexus received rather good reviews, and now many geeks are speaking about the mysterious Galaxy S3, which is rumored to be launched rather soon (together with a number of less impressive devices) and inherit the title of the best smartphone from the Galaxy S2. One could think that Samsung would forget all its older phones in this bustle and focus on the upcoming ones only, but no, it didn’t – and now an Android 2.3.6 update is coming to the Samsung Galaxy S (from Three) and to the famous...
