This comes after Rdio launched in seven new European and Latin American markets earlier this month.

Vdio basically allows users to stream content by either buying it outright, or renting the game itself, after which, content that has been paid for can be accessed easily on various devices, wither through the web interface or via the iPad application.

If you want to access the Disney Collection, you can sign up to Lovefilm’s Instant service for £4.99 a month, this will allow you to watch unlimited hours of the various films and TV shows on offer.

Google has always been one for creating new projects to help those around it, their most recent is Project Loon, which aims to bring internet access to those in remote areas by way of air balloon.

The idea is to fly the balloon over an area that needs internet and beam 3G access down to it.

Google says this is to help bring fast and reliable internet to the two out of three people in the world that don’t currently have, explaining their plans in a recent blog post.

“We believe that it might actually be possible to build a ring of balloons, flying around the globe on the stratospheric winds, that provides internet access to the earth below.”

“It’s very early days, but we’ve built a system that uses balloons, carried by the wind at altitudes twice as high as commercial planes, to beam internet access to the ground at speeds similar to today’s 3G networks or faster.”

At the moment the company is only testing the project within New Zealand, launching 30 balloons earlier this week, a group of 50 testers have already been given access to the service.

However Google aims to expand this much further in the next few years.

Alongside this, Twitter is also revealed a new feature named #FollowMe, allowing users to create a highlight reel of videos, showing off their tweeting habits, and is a new project in partnership with Vizfy.

That’s after some independent testing made by the University of Bristol and Farncombe Technology that shown the hub to outperform the BT Home Hub 3, and the Sky and TalkTalk hub.

The tests shown that the new Super Hub performed best on speed over different ranges, however it did not include BT’s new Home Hub 4 that was announced recently, they will be doing more tests for that soon.

With maximum 5GHz Wi-Fi speeds of up to 450Mbps, it’s also pretty fast when it comes to the tech sheet.

All customers taking out a new 60Mb or 100Mb broadband package will be able to get the Super Hub for free, however existing customers who have already upgraded to the package will have to pay a £49.95 installation fee.

For those on the 30Mbps package will be supplied the original Super Hub.

The service has already been tested on the websites, Zappos and Woot for which, Amazon claims that Zappos saw 40% of its new customers sign in with the service, and Woot customers used the service two times more often than any other social login on their site.

The service can be integrated easily, using the OAuth 2.0 authorization framework, and can be integrated from today by including code from login.amazon.com.

The badge looks a lot like Twitter’s version of the verified badge, and will be shown beside profile names on user timelines as well as in search results.

In their press release, Facebook said the following about the new “check-mark”: ”Verified Pages belong to a small group of prominent public figures (celebrities, journalists, government officials, popular brands and businesses) with large audiences.”

Users won’t be able to request to have their profile or Page verified, as they would be verifying users themselves and users can report fake accounts that are impersonating someone, a business or a brand.

“Xbox Live has not been hacked, Microsoft can confirm that there has been no breach to the security of our Xbox Live service.”

If you were just on Xbox LIVE, like I was you may have noticed that it’s currently impossible to sign into an account, with test connection failing to secure an internet connection, well just after which a hacker by the name of Reckz0r posted the following Tweet:

Xbox Live OWNED! – pastebin.com/zEjieFtr (48 Million Users EXPOSED)

— Reckz0r (@Reckz0r) May 23, 2013

Alongside which, the hacker also reportedly posted a list of user account information that included both their email and their password in a 6.12GB file, all of which posted in a nickname;email;password;join date format.

If true this could leave over 48 million user accounts exposed, however as of yet their has been no confirmation from Microsoft about this issue.

UPDATE: Apparently this issue is just for Virgin Media customers, but the Xbox Support Twitter account has said that they are working on it:

We have only just posted an article about the rumors, but already Yahoo have confirmed their acquisition of the blogging service, Tumblr for $1.1 billion in cash.

Some people may be a little worried about this however, views which were today confirmed by WordPress’s CEO, Matt Mullenweg who revealed earlier today that imports from Tumblr have spiked to 72,000 [Source: Matt Mullenweg]

But this might have been a little too early, as in their announcement post, Yahoo added the tagline, “Promises not to screw it up” stating that David Karp will remain the companies CEO and the product, service and brand of Tumblr will remain the same, in fact Yahoo’s CEO Mariss Mayer told uses by use of GIF to Keep Calm and Carry On:

First ever acquisition announced by animated gif @yahoo is acquiring @tumblr. finance.yahoo.com/news/yahoo-acq…#keepcalmandcarryon

— marissamayer (@marissamayer) May 20, 2013

With the acquisition, Tumblr aim to use Yahoo’s current personalization and search technologies to make the service better and faster, alongside which Yahoo also announced that the two companies will be working together to create new advertisements for the site.

In their Press Release, Mayer stated:

“Tumblr is redefining creative expression online, on many levels, Tumblr and Yahoo! couldn’t be more different, but, at the same time, they couldn’t be more complementary. Yahoo is the Internet’s original media network. Tumblr is the Internet’s fastest-growing media frenzy. Both companies are homes for brands – established and emerging. And, fundamentally, Tumblr and Yahoo! are both all about users, design, and finding surprise and inspiration amidst the everyday.”

“I’ve long held the view that in all things art and design, you can feel the spirit and demeanor of the creator. That’s why it was no surprise to me that David Karp is one of the nicest, most empathetic people I’ve ever met. He’s also one of the most perceptive, capable entrepreneurs I’ve ever worked with,” continued Mayer. “David’s respect for Tumblr’s community of creators is awesome. I’m absolutely delighted to have him join our team.”

To which the CEO of Tumblr, David Karp continued with his own statement:

“Our team isn’t changing. Our roadmap isn’t changing. And our mission — to empower creators to make their best work and get it in front of the audience they deserve — certainly isn’t changing. But we’re elated to have the support of Yahoo! and their team who share our dream to make the Internet the ultimate creative canvas. Tumblr gets better faster with more resources to draw from.”

So it looks as though the rumors where true, but is this good news? Sound off in the comments below.

Said to be announced during today’s media event hosted by the company in new York, CEO Marissa Mayer is said to reveal the companies plans for the platform.

We also expect some more news on how they plan to use their most recent acquisition of Summly.

However there’s no confirmation of the deal, with no official news yet, we shall have to wait to hear any more details.
