Acer has today unveiled their latest Windows 8 based tablet, dubbed the Acer Iconia W3, it’s a device that has been rumored for some time now, but finally the company have revealed it, posting details on their website.

The spec sheet reveals the tablet with an 8.1 inch WXGA display with a 1280 x 768 pixel resolution, Intel Atom processor, 2GB of RAM and 64GB of in-built flash storage.

There’s also Intel GMA graphics, 802.11 b/g/n WiFi connectivity, a micro USB port, micro HDMi port, a 2 megapixel webcam and Bluetooth 4.0.

Apart from that however, details are a bit on the short side, with no availability or pricing details just yet.

Sony has today announced that pre-orders for the Sony Xperia Z have now made record-breaking pre-orders when compared to their previous model, pre-orders which only starting in March.

Sony are yet to reveal how many pre-orders the device has received exactly, but when you look at the specs, it’s really not that hard to believe.

The Xperia Tablet Z  as well as packing a 10-inch display with a 1920 x 1200 resolution. the Tablet Z is also water-resistant, only weighing 495 grams and measuring just 6.9mm thick.

Sony will be offering the Xperia Tablet two versions, one with Wi-Fi and another with 4G/ 3G depending on your local connectivity. Available from Sony’s web store, they are available with three separate price ranges.

The 16GB Wi-Fi only model is £399, the 32GB is £499 and the 3G/4G model with 16GB is also £499.

SamMobile are reporting that Samsung are about to update the Galaxy Tab 3 with an 8 inch TFT display with a 1280×800 resolution, 1.5GHz dual-core  processor, 1.5GB of RAM and 16GB internal storage.

Which could indeed be possible, but for me the 1.5GB of RAM is a little bit of a throw off, being that this is not something that is normally announced with a new device, here’s the full reported specs list:

As of yet, there’s noting official and these are just rumors, however SamMobile are stating that if it is true, Samsung will announce it at the end of next month.

Archos have just unveiled their latest 3G enabled tablet, the ARCHOS 80 Xenon, which features an 8 inch IPS multi-touch display with a 1024×768 resolution, built-in WiFi and 3G, as well as Google certification, a 1.2GHz Qualcomm Quad-core processor with 1GB of RAM.

The tablet will have full access to the Google Play store, and will be unlocked, accepting a range of SIM cards from around the world.

Other features includes integrated GPS, with a range of pre-installed Media Center Applications with specific ones for video and music playback, the tablet also runs Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.

There’s also a MicroSD card slot which can expand storage up to 64GB and a 2 megapixel camera on the rear.

The ARCHOS 80 xenon will be available from June 2013 for $199.99, hit up the Archos website for more information.

Rumors have been circulating that Google are going to release a new Nexus 7 tablet for some time now, and they may be true, after an official video from Google promoting Google Hangouts, featured what looks to be a new version of the tablet.

Spotted by Cesi D’Alessio, at around the 21 second mark what looks to be the new tablet appears with a notification LED light, which of course isn’t featured in the current model.

Rumored 7 inch with a 1920 x 1200 resolution, alongside which its rumored to include a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor.

Microsoft has today confirmed that the Surface Pro will hit the UK on May 23rd, a date that took quite a long period of time to be revealed, months after its US   counterpart.

In case you forgot the Surface Pro has a 10.6 inch Full HD screen, Intel Core i5 processor, microSD card and the choice of either 64GB storage for £719, or a 128GB version for £799.

The tablet also includes a stylus but there will not be a keyboard in the case, it is possible to use any Bluetooth keyboard with the device however, or you can pick up the touch keyboard for £99, or £109 for the keyboard with the risen keys.

In Europe the tablet will launch a week layer on May 30th.

Sony Japan has today revealed its plans to try to reduce the amount of clutter a student has to take to college or university, a prototype, the idea is to launch a 13.3 inch tablet that packs both an e-ink touchscreen display and a stylus.

ASUS have today released a new teaser trailer revealing their plans to release a new Transformer tablet at Computex 2013 next month.

The video trailer makes this obvious due to the word “transform” appearing multiple times during the video, adding the following description:

“At Computex 2013, we’re announcing new products that reimagine the way you interact with desktop PCs, notebooks, smartphones, tablets and more. Join us in our journey as we transform your expectations of technology.”

There’s no more details than that however, and a new Transformer tablet is simply a guess, however with Computex kicking of next month, we should hear more soon.

Amazon has today leaked out a new Windows 8 tablet from Acer a little too early, listing a the new 8.1 inch tablet, dubbed the Acer W3-810, revealing its its specifications and an image for the device.

The device looks to have an 8.1 inch display with a 1280 x 800 resolution, a 1.8GHz Intel Atom processor, 2GB of RAM, 32GB of storage, 2 megapixel rear and front cameras, micro USB 2.0, micro-HDMI port.

The tablet is also said to last 8 hours on battery life and weighs 1.1 pounds.

Amazon listed the tablet as $380.

Acer has today announced the new Iconia A1 tablet, alongside a number of other devices, the new tab features a 7.9 inch IPS LED-backlit display, with a quad-core processor, 1024×768 resolution at a 4.3 ratio.

The new tablet will also weigh 410g and is only 11.1mm thick, and includes Bluetooth 4.0 and a/b/g/n Wi-Fi connectivity, with a 5 megapixel shooter on the rear.

The Wi-Fi only version of the A1 will be available at the end of May for £145, with a 3G option launching in July for around £200.

Acer’s B1 tablet, that was announced back at CES this year, was announced for launch in mid-June, the Wi-Fi only version for £110, and the 3G will launch at the end of July for around £150.

Nook has today announced that they will be added access to the Google Play Store and Google’s other Android services on both the 7 inch Nook HD tablet and it’s 9 inch Nook HD+.

Up until now, the two tablets only had access to B&Ns own application store, so the addition of Google services is certainly a good idea.

This comes with the recent price drop of these tablets, with the Nook HD now at £129 and the Nook HD+ at £179, both of which can now directly compete with Google’s own Nexus 7 amongst other 7 and 9 inch tablets.

William Lynch, the chief executive officer of Barnes & Noble said the following about the addition of the new services.

“By adding Google Play to Nook HD and Nook HD+, we are offering our customers even more great entertainment on our award-winning tablets, now with access to more than 700,000 apps and the best reading experience available, both are must-see products for entertainment lovers looking for high-quality tablets at incredibly low prices.”

Toshiba has today revealed a new addition to its Windows 8 tablets, dubbed the Toshiba WT310 that packs an 11.6 Full HD display, with an Intel Core processor, an SSD drive and a DigitiserPen from note taking and sketching.

The new tab is sized at 229 x 189 x 12.44mm in size, and includes Bluetooth 4.0 technology, HSPA+/ LTE connectivity, as well as an HDMI-out port, SD card slot and a USB 3.0 port.

Toshiba will also be making a dock available for the tablet that adds more port connectivity.

They haven’t however revealed details for the CPU, RAM size or SSD capacity.

They did however say that more details will be revealed in the coming weeks, and is expected to launch in Q2 of 2013.

Our readers across the pond might be pleased to hear that Sony have today announced that the Sony Xperia tablet Z is now available for pre-order in the US, available from Sony’s online store today.

If you don’t know yet, the tablet Z features a 10.1 inch display with a resolution of 1920 x 1200, there’s also a 1.5GHz processor, 2GB of RAM and it runs on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.

There’s also an 8.1 megapixel rear facing camera with Sony’s Exmor R sensor, 32GB of built-in storage, NFC, LTE, microSD card support and its even waterproof and dustproof.

Samsung has just announced the launch of their latest and third Galaxy Tab, which features a 7 inch WSVGA display, that includes a resolution of 1024 x 600 with a 169ppi, the new Tab also includes a 1.2GHz dual core processor and Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 also includes a front and rear facing camera, a 1.2 megapixel on the front and a 3 megapixel on the back.

Alongside which there’s also 2.4 and 5GHz a/b/g/n WiFi compatibility, WiFi Direct technology, Bluetooth 3.0 and A-GPS.

There’s also the choice of either 8GB or 16GB of built-in storage, microSD card compatibility that can take up to 64GBs, 1GB of RAM and a 4,000mAh battery.

Samsung also say that the Tab 3 features a new design with a thinner bezel, although it does look very similar to nearly every other Galaxy device.

The WiFi only version of the tablet will launch globally next month, with the 3G version going on sale something in June.

Microsoft have today announced the release date for the Surface Pro, announcing on its Surface blog that the tablet will be release in the UK , and across 18 other countries by the end of May, with five extra countries being added to the list by the end of June.

Those countries include, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, New Zealand, the Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, the UK, and Switzerland, for the May dates, and Korea, Malaysia, Russia, Singapore, and Thailand for the June release cycle.

The Surface Pro runs a full version of Windows 8, and has already been released i the US, Canada and China, Microsoft also revealed that the lesser, Surface RT will launch in Malaysia on April 25th, Mexico at the end of May, and in Korea and Thailand in June.
