The Mayor of London, Boris Johnson has this week announced a new initative to help promote games and game development in the UK, funded with a cool £1.2 million.

This fenture will be called Games Longon, and will involve the Mayor’s London Enterprise Panel, Film London, and Ukie, the UK’s games industry trade body.

Boris hopes that this will attract investment into the UK and build London as a hub for global games development.

To do this there will be several activities and events that will take place in London, including the London Game Week and a new international business-to-business networking event. The London Games Festival will also be running from April 1st to April 10th, and will include a number of different activities for vistors to take part in.
