Sony Mobile hit up their blog today with some pretty cool news, the 2011 Xperia range of smartphones will receive the Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich update:

“Starting from this week, Xperia arc, Xperia Arc S, Xperia neo, Xperia neo V, Xperia mini, Xperia pro, Xperia active and Xperia ray will receive a new Ice Cream Sandwich software update that comes with bug fixes, performance tweaks and other improvements.”

All of these devices will receive the update from this week, but unfortunately there’s no exact date as all updates are subject to carrier tests, Sony has also confirmed that the Xperia Mini Pro, Neo L and Live will also get the update in “the next few weeks”.

And that’s all we know, Sony did finish off by slaying those who have already upgraded to ICS will receive a notification for over-the-air updates but for those on Gingerbread you will have to keep checking via your PC or Mac.
