An 18 year old from the UK has today been arrested for the DDOS attacks that we seen against both Sony’s PlayStation platform and Microsoft’s Xbox platform in 2014.

The arrest is the result of a joint investigation that was hosted by both the FBI and SEROCU Cyber Crime Unit.

Here’s a statement from SEROCU Cyber Crime Unit about the arrest:

“An 18-year-old man was arrested this morning (16/1) in Boundary Street, Southport on suspicion of unauthorised access to computer material contrary to section 1 of Computer Misuse Act 1990, unauthorised access with intent to commit further offences contrary to section 2 of Computer Misuse Act 1990 and threats to kill contrary to Section 16 of Offences against the person Act 1861.”

As part of the arrest a number of electronic and digital devices were seized to be examined by SEROCU’s Cyber Crime Forensic and eForensics Unit.

As of yet no more details have took place within 2014 as the statement suggested that the arrest was for the year of 2014, so its highly likely that it was related to recent the Christmas attacks.
