Microsoft has today revealed the next Windows 8.1 update to become live, showing it off during their BUILD 2014 conference they announced that they will be making it easier for developers to create universal apps for PCs, phones and tablets.
This basically means that developers will now be able to write code for one app and deliver it to multiple platforms, thus bringing more attention to the Windows platform, as well as helping those with non-touchscreen devices to use the same apps, thanks to some improvements with the way a mouse and keyboard is used.
To kick things off, Microsoft announced that PowerPoint, Excel and Word will be the first that will run across all devices, using a new “ribbon” interface.
There’s also some new resize and unpin options that will come up when the user right clicks.
Windows 8.1 Update will be released on 8 April.
