Nintendo have today confirmed that they will be releasing a new 3D version of Mario Kart on the Wii U this year, confirming new details during their Nintendo Direct webcast earlier today.

Satoru Iwata, Nintendo’s President revealed during which that Nintendo EAD Tokyo will be developing the new platformer after previously working on Super Mario Galaxy and Galaxy 2 as well as Super Mario 3D Land on the 3DS.

There’s not too much details available yet, but Nintendo did mention that more will be announced at E3 this June in Los Angles with playable versions of the new title for press and games trade to try out.
