Channel 4 and Microsoft have today teamed up to release a 4oD application to Windows 8, the app which is available for free from the Windows Store will make Channel 4 the first of all the UK providers to launch their service on the new OS, allowing users to access content from Channel 4, E4 and More 4 as well as accessing the company’s 30-year archive of catch-up shows.

In order to bring the app to the Windows 8 environment the two did have to come to a commercial agreement whereby they will cross-promote each others services.

Basically co-branded pre-roll advertisements will run on all the platforms where 4oD can be used as a service for free months, this will include the laptop, Xbox 360 and of course the new application itself.
