The new Nintendo Switch console only went on sale last Friday, but already the console has received a number of unit sales.

This is according to a report from Gamesindustry, who said that the console had sold more than 80,000 units in its opening weekend in the UK, which is double that of Nintendo’s previous console, the Wii U.

Of course, those numbers don’t top everything.

The 3DS sold 113,000 units in its UK opening weekend, the PlayStation 4 sold 250,000 and the Xbox One sold 150,000.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild was also the second most popular boxed game of the week.

This is certainly good news for Nintendo, however, they aren’t quite at the level where they are overtaking Sony or Microsoft. It will be interesting to see how these sales increase over time.

We would also be interested to see the data for other regions, at which point we will update you.

In the meantime, you can read that report at the source link below.
