Earlier this year Acer unveiled their Iconia W3 tablet, following on from which they have now announced the release of a new 8 inch Windows 8.1 tablet called the Iconia W4, which will be one of the first Windows 8.1 tablets to feature an 8 inch screen, joining the Toshiba Encore, Dell Venue 8 Pro and more recently the Lenovo Mixx 2.

Priced at $330 for the 32GB and $380 for the 64GB model, the W4 features a 4th generation Atom processor clocked at 1.8GHz, an 8 inch 1280 x 800 display, 2 megapixel front-facing camera, 5 megapixel rear-facing camera, micro USB port, micro-HDMI port and up to 32GB of additional storage with a microSD card.

The design of the W4 is much of the same however, with the only differences being that it is lighter, at 0.91 pounds instead of 1.1 pounds and Acer say that the screen has also improved, with better clarity outdoors.

No specific release date for the tablet has been announced yet, but Acer did reveal that they will also be offering a protective case alongside the tablet for $35, a Crunch Cover with stand for $40 and a keyboard case for $80.
