Recently Apple released their newest firmware, iOS 5.1 which up to now has had zero problems, but it seems that the security firm MajorSecurity.net has found an issue with the address bar in MobileSafari.

The issue means that people can potentially trick users to supplying information as the address bar could be constructed in a particular way to show the address as a totally different site to what the user is actually on.

If you want to see for yourself MajorSecurity has set up this demo page which when opening in MobileSafari on your iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad running iOS 5.1 will show apple.com in the address bar when in fact you are on majorsecurity.net.

Makes you think about what you should actually do with your iPhone, the firm also noted that Apple had informed them three weeks ago but they had only just decided to go public with the news, which I think is really bad as for the last three weeks millions of people have been oblivious to the fact that they might not be visiting the site they thought they were.
