Amazon has this week acquired the comic book service, Comixology. Used by millions of comic book readers, the service will allow the company to move into the digital book service.

As of yet the terms of the acquisition has not been announced, but the Comixogy CEO David Steinberger did release the following statement:

“There is no better home for comixology than Amazon to see this vision through,” “Working together, we look to accelerate a new age for comic books and graphic novels.”

As of yet there’s no news on what Amazon will use Comixology for exactly, however we do know that Amazon will retain the comiXology branding, and support the existing apps.  A rep from Amazon also gave EnGadget the following statement: “We expect we’ll find ways to make both comiXology and Kindle work better together.”
