Amazon has today announced its own mobile card reader called Local Register, allowing users to take payments from cards using the physical card reader and a mobile app.

To do so, the user simply swipes a credit or debit card using the reader, which will then be read using the mobile waller app, and basically allow users to take payments to their accounts from their mobile device. The physical card reader is now available from with free two day shipping and from Staples stores starting next week.

To use it one simply plugs the reader into their 3.5mm audio jack port.

To but it you will need to pay up $10, however Amazon have stated that this $10 will be credited back into your account after your first transaction. Those who grab one before October 31st will also recieve a promotional rate of 1.75 per cent per card swipe until January 1st 2016. Thos who don’t will get the normal rate of 2.5 per cent both transaction.

The Local Register app is also available from the Amazon Appstore, Apple App Store and from Google Play for free, allowing users to access various insights about their customers spending and of course make payments.
