Amazon has this week revealed its latest flagship e-reader, called the Kindle Oasis, it is a more premium version of the Kindle, with a completely new design that is thinner, lighter and just a bit cooler.

That new design is just 3.4mm thick and features a grip housing that surrounds the components at one edge.

There’s also buttons on the side for turning pages, and on the front, you will find the 6-inch E-Ink display with 300ppi, alongside new side-lighting and a diffusion layer that is said to provide even more illumination across the panel.

That new display also features full touch navigation, and inside you will find an accelerometer to allow it to be used in a left or right-handed mode, as well as in landscape.

Not only that, the new Oasis will also feature a 2-week battery life, which can be expanded with a further 7 weeks via the battery cover that is included.

This case will fix by using magnets and will be available in black, merlot and walnut.

For all that, you will need to set aside some cash.

For the Wi-Fi only model you will need £269.99 and for the 3G + Wi-Fi version you’ll need to set back £329.99, which is a huge increase from the £59 Kindle, £109 Paperwhite, and £169 Voyage.

The Kindle Oasis will be available for pre-order from today, and is expected to ship in the next few weeks.
