Google has today sent out invites for an upcoming press event in India on September 15th, this links to a number of rumours that have suggested that the Android One will be launched sometime in September, and given that the Android One’s aim is to bring smartphones to emerging markets, it’s highly likely that this event might link directly to the smartphone’s launch date.

The Android One will be created by a number of local manufacturers however, with Micromax, Spice and Karbonn confirmed to be working on their own versions of the Android One.

The device’s will run on stock Android, and eventually the Android L update which is said to be released soon.

However as yet there’s no official information on what Google will announce specifically during the event, and there hasn’t been much information provided about the specs for the different versions of the handsets.

We expect this information to be provided during the event.
