Android was first announced on November 5th 2007, making the mobile OS five-years old today during which time it has grown to the number one operating system in the world with a 75 per cent market share globally.

The first smartphone to run the operating system was the HTC Dream which released in October 2008, and the latest phone to be announced the Nexus 4 which carries the latest version of the OS, Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.

However the weird thing is that the company hasn’t actually announced it’s birthday yet, not even with a Google Doodle.
