Apple doesn’t normally make many acquisitions during the course of a year, well not public ones anyway, but already this year the company has picked up two, announcing this week that they have acquired the Twitter analytics firm Topsy.

Topsy is known for a number of tools that help Twitter users to search and analyse tweets, allowing users to look at how often a particular keyword has been tweeted and see what’s popular on the Twitterspere in real-time.

The company has now reportedly been picked up by Apple for $200 million, however there’s no confirmation on price just yet, alongside which it’s not exactly clear what Apple will be doing with the company.
