As has been rumoured for some time now, Apple has today announced the new iMac with a Retina Display, packing a 27 inch display with 5120 x 2880 pixel resolution, which Apple says is the world’s best display with 7x more pixel than HD, and 67% more pixels than 4K according to the company.

This new Retina 5K Display still fits into that thin display at just 5mm thin, meaning that the large display doesn’t take from some of the iMac’s best design features, and still uses 30% less energy than the previous model.

The display is not all there’s also up to a 4GHz quad-core Intel Core i7 processor, and AMD Radeon R9 GPU, and with support for Apple’s Fusion Drive technology.

All of this comes at the price tag of $2499 in the US for the 8GB RAM and 1TB Fusion Drive model, and will be available to buy from today.
