Apple has today announced the new MacBook at their special event today, it’s 24% thinner than the MacBook Air and weighs only 2 pounds all within a design that is an all metal enclosure. Inside there’s also a full-sized chiclet keyboard to reaches to the edge.
That keyboard also uses a new butterfly mechanism that makes each key more stable and precise, whilst being 40% thinner than the previous keys featured in previous MacBooks. Each key will also feature its one LED underneath.
Just above the keyboard you will find a 12 inch Retina display that features 3 million pixels, whilst using 20% less energy to produce the same amount of brightness as previous Mac Retina displays.
Just below the keyboard you will then find a new pressure-sensitive Force Touch trackpad that uses the new Taptic Engine that can be used the quickly bring up information like Wikipedia entries or finding address quickly in emails.
Apple has also completely overhauled the designed with no fans inside of the design at all, with a logic board that is 67% smaller than the one in the 11 inch MacBook Air.
Inside there’s also an Intel Core M processor and what Apple claims to be a battery life that lasts up to 10 hours when watching videos, or 9 hours when browsing the web.
And on top of all this, the new MacBook will also use something called USB-C which allows connectivity for charging, USB data transfer, DisplayPort, HDMi and VGA through one port.
The new MacBook will be available from $1299 of the 12-inch MacBook with a 1.2GHz dual-core Intel Core M processor, an Intel HD Graphics 5300 GPU, 8GB of RAM and a 256GB SSD.
There’s also a $1599 version that will feature a 1.2GHz dual-core Intel Core M processor with a 512GB SSD. It will also be available from April 10th.
