Apple has this week updated its range of Retina iMacs, unveiling a new 27 inch model iMac with a 5K Retina display alongside a new 21.5 inch Retina iMac that has a 4K Retina display and a resolution of 4,096 x 2304.

Apple explains more:

“From the first iMac to today, the spirit of iMac has never wavered — deliver the ultimate desktop experience with the latest technologies, gorgeous displays and cutting-edge designs,” said Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing. “These are the most stunning iMacs we’ve ever made. With our gorgeous new Retina displays, more powerful processors and graphics and all-new Magic accessories, the new iMac continues to redefine the ultimate desktop experience.”

On top of this Apple also announced the launch of a new range of accessories for Mac, including a new Magic Keyboard, Magic Mouse 2 and the new Magic Trackpad 2.

The new wireless accessories will ditch AA batteries in favour of the use of lithium-ion batteries that can be charged using a lightning cable, these promise up to a month or more from a single charge.

This all means that the new accessories have a new design change. The Magic Keyboard is a full-size keyboard and takes up 13 percent less than the previous trackpad, it also features a new scissor mechanism that was introduced in the MacBook earlier this year and a lower profile.

The Magic Trackpad 2 has a 29 percent larger surface, with Force Touch capabilities alongside Force Click functionalities.

All of these new models will replace older versions and will pair instantly with a Mac when plugged into a Mac via the Lighting-to-USB charging cable.

The Magic Keyboard will be priced at £79, the Magic Trackpad 2 will be £109 and the Magic Mouse 2 will be £65.
