To celebrate their 20th anniversary, Apple has today announced that Jony Ive will be teaming up with Marc Newson to design and auction off a one-of-a-kind red Mac Pro (2013) for charity. Expected to sell for between $40,000 and $60,000 at auction, there’s no news if this will be the only other colour that will be made outside of the standard black.

If you don’t have that kind of money lying around, you might have to settle for the normal version which will launch in December for around $3,000 in the US, which is a fair bit lower than its red counterpart.

Te Mac Pro features a 3.7GHz quad-core Xeon processor, 12GB of RAM, dual FirePro D300 GPUs, a 256GB SSD, six Thunderbolt 2 ports (with 4K display support), four USB 3.0 ports, dual Gigabit Ethernet ports and a HDMI output, all squished into that amazing looking cylinder design that is said to be one-eighth the volume of the original Mac Pro.
