After announcing that it announced that it would be investing in a sapphire glass production plant in the US sometime ago, we were immediately interested in some of the products that Apple would make with the technology, presumably something for the future iPhone and iPad displays, or maybe even something for their upcoming wearable.

Of course, being a company, Apple seems to waited to produce anything until the time they can patent the technology, which they were awarded earlier today.

The patent is related to the processing and cutting of sapphire wafers for use in consumer electronics, and allows the company to use tougher glass for their devices instead of using the glass created by Gorilla Glass.
