After it was rumoured a few months back and then again a couple of weeks ago, Apple has finally confirmed that they have indeed acquired the manufacturer of the Kinect, PrimeSense, giving the usual statement of “Apple buys smaller technology companies from time to time, and we generally do not discuss our purpose or plans.” to the publication AllThingsD earlier today.

The Cupertino based giant is yet to confirm the exact terms of the deal, or even its plans for the company, but AllThingsD are citing sources in their article that claim PrimeSense was sold for about $380 million.

However no sources mentioned the plans that Apple has for this company, our best guess would have to be something to do with their rumoured TV unveiling, using PrimeSense’s knowledge of 3D sensor technology, however for now we will just have to wait.
