In a move we didn’t expect, Apple has now removed the standard YouTube app in iOS 6. Apple has already ditched Google Maps in favour of their own Maps application, in their statement Apple has explained that their license to include YouTube in iOS has run out, as such from now onwards you will have to use the YouTube website in Safari and wait till Google eventually launch their own YouTube app in the iTunes App Store.

We don’t know why Apple has let the license run out, maybe it’s because they don’t want to pay Google any more money, or maybe Google don’t want their money any more or it’s simply because Apple wants a Google free experience for the future iOS experience.

Below is Apple’s full statement:

“Our license to include the YouTube app in iOS has ended, customers can use YouTube in the Safari browser and Google is working on a new YouTube app to be on the App Store.”
