Apple has today announced their latest generation of the iPad, which comes with a number of new features including a new name, now named the iPad Air, which links to the 43% smaller bezel, and the 7.5mm thin design, which is 20% thinner than the previous model, which all in all makes the iPad Air a lot lighter, now at just 1 pound, making it the lightest full size tablet in the world.

In terms of specs, the iPad Air has a 9.7 inch screen, the same 64-bit A7 processor as feature, Mimo technology with up to 300Mbps Wifi speeds and an extended LTE coverage, 5MP camera on the back and for the first time dual microphones.

The iPad Air will come in Space Grey, White, Silver and Black priced from $499 for the 16GB Wi-Fi only version, shipping from November 1st.

In the UK prices start at £399 for the 16GB Wi-Fi only model and end at £739 for the £128GB WiFi and LTE version.

In the iPad line-up, the iPad Air will replace the iPad 4, but the iPad 2 will remain on sale.
