According to a report from The Wall Street Journal, Apple is looking to acquire Jay Z’s music streaming service, Tidal.

According to the report, both Apple and Tidal are in talks about the acquisition, but we have yet to receive a confirmation of any such deal.

This comes after Jay-Z purchased Tidal back in March 2015 for $56 million, since that time the streaming service has gained over 4 million paid subscribers.

Apple has been looking to build up their Apple Music service for some time now, and the purchase of Tidal would also help them to achieve this goal, previously the company purchased Beats Audio and Music from Dr. Dre and Jimmy Iovine for £3 billion, however, WSJ doesn’t expect the purchase of Tidal to be worth as much.

Apple is mainly looking to purchase Tidal because of their exclusive relationships with artists like Kayne West.

Both Apple and Tidal have declined to comment on these rumours, but you can read the report from The Wall Street Journal below.
