Apple has finally launched their new version of iOS in the car, first hinted at during a WDC some time ago, the company has today launched the new iOS in the car features during the Geneva International Moto Show, allowing users to access a wide range of iOS features from inside of their car and without having to touch their phone.
Called CarPlay, it allows users to control things like Apple Maps, Messages and much more right from a native interface that has been built into a supporting vehicle.
“CarPlay has been designed from the ground up to provide drivers with an incredible experience using their iPhone in the car,” said Greg Joswiak, Apple’s vice president of iPhone and iOS Product Marketing. “iPhone users always want their content at their fingertips and CarPlay lets drivers use their iPhone in the car with minimized distraction. We have an amazing lineup of auto partners rolling out CarPlay, and we’re thrilled it will make its debut this week in Geneva.”
To launch the feature Apple have teamed up with a number of car manufacturers including Ferrari, Mercedes Benz and Volvo, all of whom are showing off the feature at the show this week, and will be joining other manufacturers that include BMW, Ford, GM, Honda, Jaguar, Land Rover, Hyundai, Peugeot, Citroen, Suzuki, Ford, Honda, Toyota and many more later this year.
