Apple has today updating its iMac desktop line with the launch of a more affordable member, the entry-level 21.5 inch iMac, which starts at £899 in the UK.

For that price you get a 1.4GHz Intel Core i5 processor (which can manage up to 2.7GHz with Turbo Boost) and 8GB of RAM, alongside Intel 5000 graphics there’s also a 500GB hard drive, a 21.5 inch screen that has a pixel resolution of 1920 x 1080.

Finally you will also find 802.11ac Wi-Fi inside, with two Thunderbolt ports and four USB 2.0 ports around the back.

The iMac can also be upgraded to either a 1TB drive, or Apple’s 1TB Fusion Drive, or a 256GB SSD.

The iMac will also come with Apple’s Wireless Keyboard and Magic Mouse, alongside the latest Mac OS X version.

The new budget friendly Mac is now available from Apple stores and from their online store from £899.
