As previously rumoured Apple Pay has today gone live in the UK, allowing those with an iPhone, iPad or Apple Watch to make payments with their phone via Apple’s Wallet/ Passbook application, secured by the TouchID fingerprint sensor.

There are a few different steps that change depending on the device you are using, so here are all the steps for each of the supported devices:

iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 Plus

  1.  Go to settings and then scroll down and click “Wallet/ Passbook & Apple Pay.
  2. From here tap the plus icon in the upper right hand corner or select “Add Credit or Debit Card”.
  3. If iTunes already has a card on file you will be able to add that by simply entering the 3-digit security code, if it doesn’t then you either need to scan the card by using the device’s camera and then entering the security card. You can also enter details manually if you prefer.
  4. After that you click next and then Apple will ask you to verify the code via a phone call or text, you need to select one of these options and then type in the code you receive to activate the code.
  5. And then you are done.

Apple Watch

  1. Open the Apple Watch app on your iPhone.
  2. Tap Wallet/ Passbook & Apple Pay.
  3. Tap Add Credit or Debit Card

  5. After that you click next and then Apple will ask you to verify the code via a phone call or text, you need to select one of these options and then type in the code you receive to activate the code.
  6. And then you are done.

iPad Air 2 or iPad Mini 3

On all of your devices the first card you add will be your default payment card, however you can select to use a different card when paying, or add a new default in the Passbook / Wallet application.

Alongside that only a few card issuers are supporting the service right now, and there are only a few places that are set up to support Apple Pay, you can find all of these on Apple’s list here.
