For a while now we have new that Apple wanted to ditch Google and create their own maps application, and with the company posting a large number job positions around location services, Apple has just proven it, we know the new app will replace the current Google Maps application, but will TomTom be included, as we did find a few months back some evidence, check that out here.

One of the three listings states:

“We want to take Maps to the next level and rethink how people use maps, location and geo information.

“We want to do this in a seamless, highly interactive and enjoyable way. We’ve only just started!”

AppleInsider have said that this will lead to Apple adding a turn by turn sat nav application to rival Google’s, but at the moment this is just a rumour, so don’t get too excited. What we know for sure though is whatever Apple do with their maps application it has got to be better than the current one.

What do you think of the current iOS maps app?
