Apple has today announced the launch of the updated 16GB iPod Touch, which features a lot of the same stuff normally found in the current 5-gen Touch, but without the lanyard loop or the rear-facing camera.

However thew new device will feature a 4 inch retina display, making it a huge improvement from the previously available, 4th-gen iPod Touch.

Available at £199 the new iPod Touch will be the cheapest Touch available from the Apple Store, replacing the previous model, it will be a slight downgrade from the 32GB version which is available with an iSight camera and the loop for £249.

The 16GB Touch will also pack an A5 dual-core processor and a set of Apple’s EarPods.
