According to a recent report by Business Insider, Apple are working on new technology that will allow its users to read their voicemails instead of listening to them.

The report says that the new voicemail service will use Siri to transcribe voicemail messages along with its other integrations.

The idea of the service is that sometimes people like to leave a voicemail over ending the call and typing out a text, however the people who receive these texts don’t like to listen to them.

To make this whole process better ‘iCloud Voicemail’ will automatically answer your calls and then convert the spoken words into text, it will do this by sending voicemail to Apple’s servers, they will then send it to Siri to transcribe them.

iCloud Voicemail will also reportedly relay information about where you are and why you can’t answer the phone to your caller.

According to the report iCloud Voicemail will launch in 2016, so it won’t be included with iOS 9, but it could be an iteration of iOS 9 shortly after its release.
