Apple has a history of creating great-looking stores that change the environment that they are within while adding something extra to it.

There latest Dubai Mall store is no different.

Unveiled to the local press in the United Arab Emirates, the new store has been designed to take in the views of its surroundings, particularly the world’s tallest building, the Burj Khalifa with an 180-feet wide view.

This view is closed when the store is, however, Apple has done something a little extra to take advantage of that, using a motorized window that comprises of 18 carbon fiber panels.

These panels have been nicknamed the “Solar Wings” and have been fabricated from 340 carbon fiber reinforced polymer rods.

They are each 180 feet wide and together they make up one of the world’s kinetic art installations.

But it isn’t just for views and art, the 37.5-foot high motorized wings have also been designed to mitigate Dubai’s warm climate.

This was all designed by Foster + Parters.

Of course, we don’t live anywhere near Dubai, so we didn’t have a chance to take a look at this store, however, Khaleej Times did post the following video for a look at the store.
