Archos have just announced their latest solution to use Android on your current HD television, the TV Connect which will come in a package of two hardware components.

The first is the receiver which will link up to the second component and allow you to use the included video camera, the aforementioned second component is of course the remote that will allow you to control the unit itself.

Under the hood the TV connect packs a 1.5GHz Smart Multi Core processor with 1GB of RAM and 8GB in-built memory, there;s also a microSD card slot for expansion up to 32GB. Around the back there’s a Micro-USB, USB host, mini HDMI and Ethernet port there’s also WiFi connectivity for those who don’t like wires.

The unit as a whole will basically allow you to use Android on the big screen, which will of course be displayed in full HD, with the touch remote you can wirelessly control all of this to perform various tasks, there are also dedicated Android keys and a full QWERTY keyboard.

One of the biggest features is the multiple gestures that can be used allowing you to zoom and type without any effort.

The TV Connect will be available from February 2013 at $129.99 (not sure of UK pricing and availability just yet) but the unit will be demoed at CES 2013 so we should hear more about it around then, make sure to check out our dedicated CES 2013 event page for all of that.
