Argos has today announced a new partnership with O2 in order to provide their Wi-Fi services in all of its 735 stores across the UK and Ireland, allowing customers to access the internet on their WiFi capable smartphones and mobile devices at no cost.

The reason for this is to allow customers to view the stores online offering instead of flicking through the traditional catalogue, allowing them to access various exclusive online deals and offers, as well as providing other incentives when connecting in store.

Customers can also use the free WiFI for personal use if they wish, and all customers will be able to access the service, regardless of network or broadband provider, however O2 WiFi customers will be able to log-on automatically.

“We have seen strong growth in mobile transactions with sales through mobile devices now accounting for 16 per cent of our total sales, we know there is a strong appetite from our customers to have the convenience of accessing their devices on the move, in a way that suits them,” ” said John Walden, managing director of Argos.

“Free high speed O2 Wi-Fi in our stores is great for customers and it also enables our stores to provide even better customer service by sharing online content such as extended ranges, enhanced photography and even product videos with customers.”
