Here in the UK Lovefilm is a great service that already offers a wide range of features, allowing users to stream and rent content from the Amazon run company, and it is about to get even better in the near future following the announcement of them signing a new deal with Sony Pictures Television.
The deal will allow Lovefilm to provide its members with exclusive streaming access to any new and upcoming Sony Pictures titles alongside other catalogue titles and TV episodes, the will start from June next year and will be available to all new and existing members.
Getting Sony on board with the service is obviously a massive step forward for the rental company and could be what sets it apart from its competitors, once the deal kicks in members will be able to stream some great titles, alongside the company’s wide range of kids TV titles as well as gaining access to future releases from Sony Pictures.
This seems t be right on time to compete with its main competitor, Netflix who recently signed their own content deals with Miramax, MGM and Lionsgate in order to secure titles ready for their expected launch in the UK and Ireland sometime in early 2012.
What do you think? Will this set Lovefilm apart from its competitors?
