Shortly after Apple decided to remove the Google Maps application from iOS, Google revealed their ow standalone maps app for the iPhone, but left us waiting for a version to hit the iPad, until today that is as the company has now updated their application specifically for the iPad.

The Google Maps 2.0 app brings a custom interface for the iPad, with enhanced navigation aids, live traffic and incident reports, and can provide maps for walking directions, public transport and the car.

Alongside the app, Google also released the new SDK v1.4 for iOS, allowing developers to integrate the same maps within their own applications.

Google Maps 2.0 is available now from the US iTunes App Store, no word on when it will hit elsewhere.
